Acid Bath Album Demos: 1993 – 1996 Brings a Collection of Heavy, Creative Sounds
For one of the least known bands in the underground scene, Acid Bath certainly brings a level of quality and originality to their sound that few other heavy bands can touch. These sludge pioneers out of New Orleans definitely set the standard for what grinding, sluggish music can and should be. Their album Demos: 1993 – 1996 is a collection of 12 excellent songs that come from their other albums such as When the Kite String Pops and Paegan Terrorism Tactics.
Throughout this album you will see a wide range of vocal stylings from Dax Riggs, the groups front man. Though the death of one member cut the band’s life short, it is a group whose sound will easily echo across time in a way similar to Sublime or Nirvana even though they never achieved such a vast level of popularity as those two bands. Most of their “hits” such as Venus Blue, Bleed Me an Ocean and Scream of the Butterfly are represented here. If you love thought provoking and poetic lyrics put to a crushing, often evil sound, then this is certainly an album you do not want to miss. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite albums of all time, heavy or otherwise because it gives all the things I love in a great record: superb lyrics, a killer sound and plenty to think about.
