Why Use Screw Caps?
What is the point in
screw caps? We have no doubt seen them almost everywhere and wondered what their actual point is especially if we have built a flat pack item such as a table or a desk. In this article, however, we will look at the uses of these caps and show that they do actually play an important role in two respects; both a practical one as well as a cosmetic one as well.
First of all it is good to know what these caps actually are. Essentially they are the round or oval things you see to cover up the screws and the screw wholes on things such as desks and table. So why bother with them at all? Well from a practical side of things they can have quite an enormous importance. If you have ever left a screw exposes for an extended period of time then tried to take it out you will know that all sorts of problems can arise. Bits of dirt can become lodge in the whole itself making it hard to remove the screw and it can also fall victim to rust as well which makes it even harder. One of these caps eliminates both these problems.
The second solution it provides is purely from an aesthetic perspective. If you have a table, say, that is made from black glass then you will obviously want the rest of the table to fit in with the style. Silver usually goes well and the legs will probably be colored to match this however having gold screws will just stand out and ruin the whole scheme. This is why a cover can come in handy as they can be bought in the color you want and then used to ensure that the whole object is the same throughout its design.
