Linksys CIT200 Skype Phone
Linksys CIT200 is wireless telephone with USB base station where you can attach 4 other devices. It is Skype telephone and
currently working only in Windows 2000 and XP. It is a little bigger than usual mobile
phone these days. Software installation is very simple and control panel
sits in tray after installation.
Connection between Skype and CIT200 is working
perfectly as it should. After all it is Skype telephone. One little thing that surprised me
was that Skype contacts was shown on phone lcd. Also incoming, missed and outgoing calls
are shown there. This Skype telephone has 3 different ring-tones. You can not add yours.
Now that is bad as I am sure it would be simple for Linksys to make this an option. Batterie lasts for two
days of normal use and quality of sound really depends on your internet connection speed, but
still better than microphone-speakers combination.
Linksys CIT200 Skype phone is interesting
and usefull because it is as functional as normal home telephone and even your grandmother will not have
problems using it. It would sure be nice if we could use this phone as normal analog telephone but after all
what can we except for under $100. Bid downfall is that it is working only in Windows 2000
and XP. Linux users are still waiting for true support from Skype and Skype peripherals
suppliers like Linksys. Nice gadget at the end and worth the money.
